Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a procedure commonly undergone to make the breasts larger, improve symmetry and restore balance to women’s figures.

There are many reasons for which a person would like to augment the size of their breasts. It may be to enhance a woman’s shape with naturally small breasts, or to restore volume that may have been lost following weight loss or breastfeeding.

Your surgeon will select and explain to you which is the preferred type of implant that best meets your expectations. Nonetheless, breast augmentation is made possible with either fat grafting (or lipofilling) or with FDA-approved silicone or saline-filled implants.

Results

While a breast augmentation yields larger breasts right away, the final results may take a few weeks as the swelling subsides and the skin stretches. Some patients may need to wear a bandeau to help shape their breasts, especially if they have underlying asymmetry or very small breasts to start with. Incision lines may take several months, even a couple of years, to fade.

You are required to go for check-ups around 6 years after your first implants procedure and then as often as requested by your physician. It is preferable to change your implants every 10 to 15 years.

Who can have this surgery?

Candidates for breast augmentation should be physically healthy and aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding. Breasts should be fully developed to have this surgery.
