Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid Surgery

An eyelid surgery is also commonly known as “Blepharoplasty”. It is a surgical procedure that can be performed on either the upper, or the lower lids, or both at the same time. It aims to improve the appearance of the eyelids and beautify the eyes.

A blepharoplasty can be done under local anesthesia and patients can head back home the same day. Your plastic surgeon can advise and guide you through further details of the procedure.

Results

Similarly, to any other surgical procedure, some little scarring is to be expected with an eyelid surgery. However, it is as minimal as almost nonexistent in most blepharoplasty cases, after few months of healing.

It is not common for a blepharoplasty to provide the same result a facelift would.

Upper eyelid surgery can last at least five to seven years. Lower eyelid surgery rarely needs to be repeated. Of course, your eyes will still age after the procedure.Ask your plastic surgeon for the procedure that best adapts to your expectations.

Who can have this surgery?

The best candidates for eyelid surgery are healthy with no serious eye conditions or medical conditions that might impair healing. Most are 35 years or older, but if baggy eyelids or droopy eyelids run in your family, you may decide to have the surgery done sooner.
