Nose Surgery

Nose Surgery

Also known as ‘nose reshaping’, a rhinoplasty can re-sculpt your nose, remove bumps, improve angles and reduce an enlarged tip. Such traits are often due to genetics, but sometimes, it could follow an injury or an accident.

According to the latest survey conducted by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), nose surgeries represent more than 8% of the world’s total surgical procedures combined, and is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the world.

This procedure is mostly performed under general anesthesia and lasts about two hours. The surgeon will make an incision and then remove bone or cartilage or rearrange it.

You can head home after you wake up and recover from the anesthesia.

Results

You can expect swelling and some bruising around the eyes after surgery which may last up to 10 days and you should avoid heavy exercise during that period. It can, though, last up to two weeks.

Expect your nose to have a little swelling, which probably only you and your surgeon will notice. This will go away over the next six months.

The final shape of your nose will be apparent after it has completely healed.

Who can have this surgery?

Men and women of all ages benefit from rhinoplasty. Patients should be in good overall health and should not smoke because smoking can lead to poor blow flow and increase the risk of tissue damage. Rhinoplasty is possible for teens. Physically, the nose must be fully developed—typically by around age 16 for girls and 17 for boys.
